"He" is Trump. "Andy's office" is believed to be that of the Deputy Director of the FBI, Andrew McCabe, who was in charge of the Trump investigation - then just a few weeks old. The conversation appears to be a violation of the Hatch Act, which prohibits civil servants from engaging in political activity while on duty and in a government office.I want to believe the path you threw out for consideration in Andy's office that there's no way he gets elected — but I'm afraid we can't take that risk. It's like an insurance policy in the unlikely event you die before you're 40...
But what does "I'm afraid we can't take that risk" (of Trump winning) actually mean?
Does it mean, for example, that "I'm going to dress up this dodgy Christopher Steele dossier Hillary and Fusion GPS passed along to us into something a bit more credible-seeming and take it to the FISA court to get authorization to tap everyone around Trump round the clock until we hit paydirt"?
9) The above text explains why Mueller hired the same-old-same-old Hillary crowd for his supposed "independent" investigation into Trump: The same people had to run both investigations because otherwise the new investigators would discover the shenanigans of the old investigators.Putting Strzok and Page on the team was the FBI's way of protecting itself.

You're a former prosecutor, yes? What's the deal with the numerous failures by *federal* prosecutors to disclose Brady information / material? It seems that I've read of multiple instances of that (or maybe my memory is just faulty - I have an excuse: I'm old)....

It's bad enough that doubt has been generated toward the highest echelons of our legal system; I've tended to believe that the front-line troops were faithful to their oaths of office. If we lose faith in the legal system, then it's "Katy bar the door" and "Olly olly in free" anarchism coming to a place near you.

No, there are some really bad prosecutors at every level. Can't tell if the problem is getting worse or not. It's possible it's just the normal distribution of bad eggs but they are getting caught more because of FOIA or some whistleblowing in the offices of the prosecutors. Very disturbing. I have not been a witness to any prosecutors doing bad acts (but I have seen child interviews in which the questioner (not a prosecutor) did every thing she could to get the child to accuse my young client of bad acts. It's supposed to be a level playing field search for the truth. Thanks for the comment. You're finger is on the pulse for sure.
