Liar, Liar, Pants on Twitter

Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY-9th) has had his horrible, horrible no good 9 day ordeal--ever since he screwed up and sent this infamous amazing bulge photo to everyone rather than only to the co-ed he was having cybersex with-- come to an end with a press conference, a major meal culpa, but no resignation, unlike former Rep. Chris Lee (R-NY-26th) who resigned for sending his photo with no shirt as a come on to young women. That's not unusual--a lot of Democrats have no shame and brazen it out, and even get re-elected, after very embarrassing activities come to light; former Gov. Elliot Spitzer, (D-NY) was an exception.

The worst Weiner can expect is that his district will cease to exist in 2012, as the blue state workers' paradise of New York lost so many people in the last decade that the state has to give up two congressional districts. The best he can expect is that no one will ever take him too seriously again, and that he will be the brunt of late night comic jokes for months and perhaps years to come.

Apparently Andrew Breitbart has a much, much more disturbing photo out there to publish but he's so far held off. I'll pass.

The formerly readable Charles Johnson at Little Green Footballs has once again embarrassed himself coming to the defense of lefties only he thinks are innocent victims. What Rep. Weiner took 9 days to admit most people, armed with only a few of the facts, knew instantly. Johnson seems to have a diminished sense of shame too, which is part of the reason he is no longer readable, except for schadenfreude at his expense.

It never ceases to amaze me how often petty, inconsequential scandals are given more coverage than deserved, watering down political discourse, and perpetuating the shallow popularity contest we call American Politics. But if we're going that route:

"He who warned, uh, the British that they weren't going to be taking away our arms uh by ringing those bells and making sure as he's riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that we were going to be secure and we were going to be free and we were going to be armed."—Sarah Palin on Paul Revere

I'd take a sex fiend in office over a moron any day of the week.

It's not that he's partaking in the women coming out of the woodwork now that he's in office (though still ugly), that's just a perk of power some people cannot resist. It's not that he's kinda cheating on his new pretty wife. It's that he bald faced lied to us until he decided he could lie no more (because he got caught). I have no use to for a Congressman who will lie and lie and lie through his teeth to save himself mere embarrassment.
As to Palin. Worse sentence structure ever. I'd almost rather listen to valley girls, but the gist of what she said: Once captured, Revere warned the British and that there were bells ringing and warning shots--all historically accurate. Who's the idiot now. Revere did not warn the people in Concord that the British were coming to confiscate the militia muskets, Dr. Samuel Prescott did. Dawes and Revere were captured between Lexington and Concord.

Politicians lie, the sky is blue, water is wet...

My point is that this shouldn't have been an issue in the first place. Weiner--and yes, it's wrong that he lied--shouldn't have had to answer to this at all. It was a personal matter, with absolutely nothing illegal involved, that had nothing to do with his position in office. And the fact that, after less than a week, I know more about Weinergate than I do about, say, how exactly Osama bin Laden died, is really revealing about the political media focus in America.

And whatever, I can give you more quotes if you want, Sarah Palin is an idiot.

Good to see your opinion of Ms. Palin is fact proof. Doofus Weiner meant to send his dicpic to just one girl and instead he sent it to all who followed him on Twitter. OOPS. Someone saw it, sent it to Breitbart and then, unasked by authorities, Weiner started lying and probably still hasn't stopped. He's not the victim. His wife and his constituents are. You need to read more about the SEALS and less of the moronic ramblings of Matt Triabi. As you say, whatever.
