Thought of the Day

When the President first began selling his stimulus plan to the American people in November 2008, he promised it would create 2.5 million jobs. But as employment fell at the end of 2008, President-elect Obama increased his employment promise by one million to 3.5 million jobs created. At the time, employment stood at about 135.1 million. Using these two data points, one can objectively establish the Obama jobs target for December 2010 at 138.6 million. Fast forward to July 2010 and the latest jobs report shows total U.S. employment at almost 130.5 million. This means President Obama’s stimulus has failed to meet its own standard for success by 7.4 million jobs.

Of course, there are still 4 and 1/2 months left before December, 2010, so there's time yet before the deadline. The administration's line that the near Trillion in stimulus has saved or created 3 million jobs is a worse error (to be generous) than any of George Bush's so-called lies.

Treason?

well, here's a more well-reasoned and logical response to that article, and the rest of the series (check the rest out!):

"George Bush's so called lies?" I do not think that the Bush Administration's repeated and successful attempt to convince the American public that Saddam Hussein was connected to 9/11 is a "so-called lie."

It was an actual and purposeful deceit. George Bush invaded Iraq in the single worst foreign policy blunder of the past forty years.

Yeah, yeah, Rog. The invasion was "legal" but there are a lot of things that are legal that are bad ideas. We deposed a monster. Was it worth the cost of what we paid? If your answer is "yes" then I have a bridge in Brooklyn I would like to sell you. It has been in the family for generations but we can no longer afford the upkeep.

Anonymous is spreading lies

At no time did the Bush Administration attempt to convince anyone that Saddam was tied to 9/11. This is leftist fantasy.

Since the Bush team's so called repeated attempt to convince the American public that S. Hussein was connected to 9-11 was often punctuated with their repeated admission that S. Hussein had nothing to do with 9-11, it's difficult for me to credit your charge. If you are unaware of the several times both Bush and Cheney flat out said S. Hussein had nothing to do with 9-11, I will post a list of quotes and video clips (at least links to them) where the former President and Vice President did just that. Just say the word.

It's always good to depose Hitler lite tyrants--Tell me more about your bridge, T.

Andrew, you were right that three individuals tried, so far unsuccessfully, to up the already extant criminal sentence for homosexuality in Uganda. You were wrong to imply that the attempt was successful and was endorsed by a wide swath of evangelicals. The pinhead group that protests soldier's funerals carrying "God hates Fags" signs are indeed Christians, but wacko ones who do not represent, even in the slightest way, 99.9% of Christian beliefs. So, be careful of the broad brush.

As for making me read Glenn Greenwald, can't you pick a lesser punishment, like driving rusty nails into my elbows and knees?
