Thought of the Day

Greens who feared and climate skeptics who hoped that the rash of investigations following Climategate and Glaciergate and all the other problems would reveal some gaping obvious flaws in the science of climate change were watching the wrong thing. The Big Green Lie (or Delusion, to be charitable) isn’t so much that climate change is happening and that it is very likely caused or at least exacerbated by human activity. The Big Lie is that the green movement is a source of coherent or responsible counsel about what to do.

Rog,

I missed Glaciergate. What was it?

T

The IPCC included in its 4th revised report a few years ago that the Glaciers in the Himalayas were melting so fast that their complete demise was just decades away. The source of this misinformation was not a peer reviewed article, in fact there did not appear to be a real source at all. It just appeared in the report, or something like that.

Just wandering are you married?

Yes, happily.

Interesting query from janetsonnen. I am still considering it. Meanwhile, do you dispute that glaciers are melting at an unprecedented rate?

Yes I dispute that glaciers are melting at an unprecedented rate. Earlier in the current interglacial, the sea level was rising five times faster than it is now. I assume the water rise was at least 20% glacier melt water (the rest was thermal expansion) so the glaciers had to be melting at a faster rate than now. Do you find a flaw in my reasoning?
