Which brings me to an obscure subject of mutual interest. I think we can agree that for whatever reasons, the Arctic Ocean is more navigatable for time during th eyear than in decades past.
The U.S. fleet has 3 (count em) ice breakers, two of which are over 30 years old and one of which is out of commission. Russia, that ridle wrapped in a mystery inside and enigma controlled by he-who-must-not-be-named-who-would-be-Tsar has 11 icebreakers including at least one which is a large container ship.
Roger keeps saying our fleet is too small and this instance he is correct. Thanks to the Sunday NYT for the info.

Thanks for the info. The sea ice melting in the North is serious but behind last year. Let's see what the next few weeks brings.
