This Day in the History of Cruel British Oppression

On this day in 1765, the British Parliament enacted the Quartering Act, which required Americans to provide temporary housing for British soldiers. The wholly unnecessary 3rd Amendment is a direct response to this act.

Unnecessary? At this point, I wouldn't put anything past a possible future government.

I note the use by Guard troops of a church as a base camp, after Hurricane Katrina.

What else can be rationalized away?

There has been a single case in the federal system based on the 3rd A. Not a very important part of the Bill of Rights in my book. It just protects from free quatering during peace time. During war the gov can make you house and feed soldiers for free. Don't be so paranoid. I'm sure the Guard paid rent.

Good seeing you Saturday.
