Bill Buckley--RIP

Long time editor of the National Review and PBS conservative talking head on Firing Line, William F. Buckley, Jr., has died at age 82. He was an extraordinary man and no one, except perhaps Diomedes, did more to steer me from the dark side of socialism to the warm rosey light of a proper political weltanshauung.

The average American IQ just went down a measurable amount.

"the warm rosey light of a proper political weltanshauung"

"The central question that emerges…is whether the White community in the South is entitled to take such measures as are necessary to prevail, politically and culturally, in areas where it does not predominate numerically? The sobering answer is Yes—the White community is so entitled because, for the time being, it is the advanced race.”

William F Buckley, 1957

So because I am a Conservative and an admirer of Bill Buckley, I have to believe and defend everything he or any other Conservative, so called or real, ever said? I see. I get the picture. The left is responsible for more suffering and more political murder than anything the right could accomplish, even if it tried. The Republican party freed the slaves. The Democratic party owned slaves, and almost exclusively were members of the Ku Klux Klan during its heyday. I reject your not so subtle inference that Buckley or any current Conservative is a racist. It's not true. Never was; isn't now. Warm rosey light of proper political weltanshauung is the right way to see it. Would love to continue the argument.

More recently, I wonder how you felt about Buckley's stance on Iraq.

I guess I would have a feeling if I knew what Buckley thought about Iraq, but I had stopped reading him about 2 years ago. How are you doing, Mike? Well, I hope.

Two years huh?

Well it was almost exactly two years ago when he wrote this.

I'm doing alright. Hanging in there...... barely.
