This Day in the History of Bush Hatred Time Travel
On this day in 1984, a suicide car bomber associated with Hamas and bankrolled by Iran attacked the U.S. Embassy annex in northern Beirut, killing twelve. We've had war waged on us by Islamic extremists for over 20 years now, it's just that no one on the left except Joe Lieberman can even see it.

Rog,
Was it late at night when you wrote this? Certainly some of us would place the beginning of the war on us by Muslim extremists in 1979.
What is "Bush hatred Time Travel?"
Unless of course you rewferring to the current President's foreign policy blunder of the invasion of Iraq and the pretence that Iraq, at the time, was a major front on the war against terrorism instead of a minor beachhead. Not that it isn't a major front now. One. alas, of our own creation.

No, it was this morning. I agree that Iran's war against us started ion 1979, but it spread outside Iran's borders in the mid 80s. The lefties making the argument that Islamic extremism is merely a response to our President's ending properly the Gulf War have difficulty explaining the attacks before we re-entered Iraq four plus years ago. Thus the time travel aspect. I see you've launched a pre-emptive attack on my arguments here in your third paragraph. I see the current struggle in Iraq as reaction to power vacuum not so much as a 'policy blunder' because finishing the Gulf War properly was not a 'policy blunder' It is a major front now. I think that's good news. In a foreign country those who would kill us are having to fight not helpless citizens but our superb military. What's not to like?
