Drug misuse is not a disease, it is a decision, like the decision to step out in front of a moving car. You would call that not a disease but an error of judgment.

Whereabouts is Dick buried? (My wife comes from Sterling, so I'm down* there occasionally.)
On a vaguely related note, the World Science Fiction Convention will be in Denver in 2008. If you're interested, buy your membership now. It's $120 until the end of the year and going nowhere but up. (My wife will be co-running the art show, so I'm pretty sure to be there.)
