This Day in American History

On this day in 1846, America declared war on Mexico and proceeded to defeat Mexican forces nearly everywhere we fought them, including a march to and capture of Mexico City by about 10,000 American soldiers. Pretty bold. We got about half of Mexico, all the border states except Texas, which had already fought Mexico and won. The Mexican War was by far the most unpopular war with Americans to date.

Comments:
What's not widely remembered is that Mexico declared war on the US and that most informed observers thought Mexico would win the war in a walk.

Thanks Doug, you always seem to add some detail of which I was formerly unaware.
We still on for shooting this Saturday? I'll call as well.

I think I'm going to need to postpone. My wife is running an art show at the Opus SF convention that weekend, so I'll be responsible for my son. He's a good kid, and I'm sure he'd like the first 15-30 minutes of a range trip, but he's only six, so would probably get bored.

Bored kids and firing ranges are a bad mix.

Perhaps the next weekend (Memorial Day) or the one after that?

(Sorry to scatter this in the comments; I don't actually have an e-mail address for you.)

OK to reset. I'll call and we'll get a group at a convenient time.
