Russ Feingold Calls His Fellow Democrats Wussies

Senator Russ Feingold (D-WI), one of the very few who has actually accomplished less in the Senate than John Kerry (D-MA) (excepting Feingold's assault on political speech) came out swinging yesterday, urging his fellow Democrats to show more backbone and stand up to President Bush on Iraq. The Democrats have been cowering in their 'political foxholes' and have been intimidated by President Bush, according to Feingold. Well, the President is pretty scary.

If we do not show both a practical and emotional readiness to lead in the fight against terrorism, we will lose in '06 and we will lose in '08, just like we did in '02 and '04.

Sounds reasonable to me. Does anyone believe the Democrats have an emotional readiness to lead the fight against terrorism? Does anyone even believe the Democrats are in any way practical?

Here are samples of Feingold's practical and emotional readiness to fight against militant Islamicists. Feingold has proposed that U.S. troops leave Iraq by the end of the year. (That's taking it to them). He also wants to censure the President for ordering the NSA to listen to our known enemies' communication with unknown persons in the United States. Wow, what a tiger!

So let me get this straight--to Feingold, showing a practical and emotional readiness to lead the fight against terrorism is to propose cutting and running in Iraq and only fighting against Bush from the Senate floor. Wow, I'm sure the Zarqawi followers are quaking in their boots at the very idea of Democrat war leadership.

Comments:
Gee R. It sounds as if you actually think the Republicans are doing a good job fighting the war against Terrorism. If so, raise another goblet of your bathwater in fervent salutation.

Please recall the loss of thousands of U.S. troops and the expenditure of billions of dollars prosecuting the war in Iraq for reasons that posed no threat to our national security. There is no question in my mind that our resources could have been better directed.

Remember, the war in Iraq and the deposing of Saddam Hussein are the events that afforded al-Zarqawi the opportunity to elevate his mayhem.

I think the president is pretty scary. What this administration has never grasped is that the implementation of effective foreign policy begins w/ an understanding of that nation or culture one is trying to influence.
This administration has never seemed to grasp that there are differences between the average Iraqi and the average member of the Plano, TX Chamber of Commerce.

I will defend to the death your right to feel less safe than you do now if the Democrats take control of the White House/Senate/House. But please do not imply that you think this administration has done a bang up job in the global conflict as that position denigrates everyone's intelligence.

Not a perfect job but pretty good since Clinton shrunk the troops available by 40% during his glorious administration. People die in wars--when you can shoot them, they can shoot you. Money gets spent--and your alternative? Act like Clinton with ineffectual showy displays of military prowess?
Germany posed no threat to our national security (expecially once they had the Soviet wolf by the tongue after June 1941) but we fought, bombed and invaded them.
Had we not invaded Iraq Zarqawi probably would have become a peaceful phramacist in Jordan. (sarcasm) This understanding is the source of all effectiveness is bullshit. We didn't need to understand the Japanese to defeat them; we needed to outproduce them and fight hard when we were in contact with them. Our cracking their code didn't hurt any. We're still not into nation building, we're just the guys with 'Security' on their T-shirts at the concert. Even you know that the Democrats are anti-military at heart and couldn't conduct a good war even if they wanted to, which they don't and you denegrate the competent Republicans to cover for your feeling of party inadequacy. If you think the president is scary you are a nancy boy and I don't think you are a nancy boy. Thanks for the comment, it's good to have to defend your thoughts against a smart, articulate adversary.

R,

800 years b/f the birth of Christ, Archilochus, the first lyric poet--or at least the first lyric poet of whom we have works-- advised his comrade Glaukos: "Keep a mercenary for a friend to stand by in battle."

Would our world be as uncomplicated as the the world of our parents.

Our president is scary only b/c he sees the world as he does, not as it is. the war in Iraq began as soon as the SC ratified his election.

Ignorance and arrogance combined w/ power have always proved to be a potent and debilitating cocktail.

Of course we-- at least we of our generation-- have all seen Animal House. In he final scenes, someone leads the marching band into a dead end alley. So I view the president's policy w/ respect to Iraq.

The true battle was never in Iraq.

Google 'Saddam's Blessed July Mowbray', read his article on Iraq's planned terroriat attacks and then tell me why Iraq, divorced from the perfectly good humanitarian reason for deposing a bloody tyrant, was not a battle place against militant Islamicist terrorism.

Doesn't one of the Zarqawi videos....show Abu stumping for Feingold, in between his Allah Snackbars ??

The ability to win ellections does not translate into the ability to govern, as this administration has clearly proven. And about 70% of my fellow Americans agree.

10:01 AM

70 % of americans agree on what ? that the economy is terrible ? ( Psst...It's kicking ass right now )that April was the second highest revenue intake for fed taxes EVER ? ( a windfall of tax cuts mind you ) that unemployment is lower than it ever was during the Clinton years ? that the Dow is getting ready to break it's own record ?

I think what 70 % of Americans DON'T understand is that the MSM spoon feeds them ANYTHING derogatory about republicans, and curtails ANY positive aspects of current life....so I ask you Mr. Bold Anonymous......if you were being told daily, that the sky is absolutely falling, wouldn't you put your arms over your head instinctively ??

happy thursday

Last time I checked, both FDR and HST were registered Democrats.

I suggest you reread Sun Tze.

I read Mowbray's piece. He makes a good point regarding the Bush administration's failure to exploit "Blessed July" to bolster it's position on going to war.

Sorry, but no sale. Saddam got his patoot kicked in the GW I. He failed to grasp GWB's and the neocon's personal animus toward him and so he is now on trial instead of writing romance novels, which I understand took up most of his time in the latter years of his regime.

As I remind Diomedes from time to time, it is possible we will yearn for the good old days when Saddam served as a buffer against Iran.

If I recall your most recent posting correctly, you do not beleive that the Iranian theocrats are controllable by embargo, which is a least one step beyond diplomacy.

I am sorry though. Do you blame President Carter for the deposition of the Shah?

What is your vision of the world? That the US will impose its will through military means from now until the end of time? Isn't that antithetical to at least some of our most cherished principals?

I forgot, its all the fault of the MSN and Bill Clinton. The fact that 70% of the country is sick of this administration depite the fact that the economy isn't in the toilet speaks volumes. And next youll tell me that the stock market is in good shape because of Bush's tax cuts. Right.

I guess we'll see in November, what the trend of the nation is...I for one, do see a need for a SERIOUS change.......and honestly, as far as W goes, about the ONLY two actual policies that he has implemented that I agree with, are the tax cuts ( which at least have A LITTLE to do with the stock market ) and his pursuit against islmao fascist terrorism.

Good to have you back Mark, I wondered if my lukewarm review of Satriani drove you off forever. Good comments. Keep it up.
Tony, if there was a functioning league of free nations, I'd be with you, but if we don't do it; it doesn't get done (except in African former French colonies where the French will go and not surrender). Saddam was a toothless tiger by 2003, huh. Lefty talking point and I think without foundation. I'll listen to your facts in support if you give me a site or two to visit (Eschaton doesn't count).
