Rush Takes the Deal
Rush Limbaugh was finally arrested for becoming addicted to pain pills and obtaining them in large numbers, but it's reported that he's reached a deal--a deferred prosecution. The sweetest of sweetheart deals. Don't do a new offense, stay off the pills (and other things you should do anyway) and the prosecutor dismisses charges you only pled not guilty to.
Of course, there's little doubt that his drug addiction made him go deaf so there is some punishment. Oh and he has to pay the State of Florida $30,000 for the costs of the investigation. A little painful to the pride that but Rush makes many million every year so it hardly dents his wallet.
I wonder if this turn of events will cut down on his calling other people "maggot infested, dope smoking..."? Maybe not.

What happened to Rush's "zero tolerance policy" for these "maggot infested dope smokers" now that he is one of them? Seems a bit hypocritical if you ask me.
There is an element of hipocricacy in his attitude, but apparently he was not seeking to get high when he began taking pain pills for his back but merely seeking to get out of pain. I find that a somewhat significant difference between him and the ordinary pot smoker.
I tend to agree with Andrew. Thi
Most people don't go out one day and say, "hey, I'd like to get high." It usually starts with your family and friends. Learned behavior. Unless you have a family that has a huge respect for the law, your own respect for the law will likely not override the temptaion to start if your family and friends are involved with drugs.
Once you get addicted, then, you are kind of on your own. You make decisions along the way, and you know what you are doing. You may be completely powerless to stop it, but you know, and you should know that you may have to pay the price for it. Most addicts do, and they thus live in a constant state of fear the people will find out.
Letting Rush completely off the hook (which is what he got) is fine with me. He has paid his price in more ways than anyone but Rush knows. I'm sure it wasn't pleasant. What sucks, is people with less resources in the same position, do the time. They may have already paid huge prices for their addicitons: loss of children, spouces ect..
But then, to add insult to injury, they get to do some hard time. In many cases, alot of hard time, for esssentially doing what an addict would do.
Punishing people for being addicts is ridiculous. Rush should be more simpathetic towards, well, everyone.

There really is no hope. Oh the pain.

I'm sorry, but not surprised, that you feel hopeless, Anon. Hope you find a way to ease your pain, without bringing down a DP on your head.
